31.31 Children and Blood Borne Viruses

Blood-borne viruses (e.g. HIV, hepatitis B and C) are not in themselves issues for child protection, and there is no evidence that child protection issues arise disproportionately in families affected by these viruses.

Workers should seek specialist advice if issues about blood-borne viruses arise in the course of their work.
