Information Sharing This chapter has been updated in regard to Information sharing: Advice for practitioners providing safeguarding services to children, young people, parents and carers (March 2015).
Safeguarding Children and Young People from Sexual Exploitation This chapter has been updated and references to the CSE Risk Assessment tool have been added.
Children Displaying Harmful Sexual Behaviour This chapter has been updated to include the use of the internet and abusive images in Section 2, Definition and an additional bullet point in Section 5, Procedure “The risks to other children /young people, if the child who has (allegedly) sexually harmed another lives in a foster/residential/boarding or other shared environment”.
Forced Marriage This chapter has been updated to provide a link to Forced Marriage Protection Orders.
Historical Abuse Allegations This chapter has been reviewed for this latest edition of the manual.
Children Missing from Care and Home The text has been updated in Sections 6.7, Longer and Significant Absences and Incidents of Specific Concern; Section 9, When an Absent / Missing Person is Located or Returns and Section 11, Monitoring of Missing Children Data in line with national guidance.
Trafficked and Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children A number of new national developments such as the Modern Slavery Act 2015 have been incorporated in the update of this chapter and guidance about both trafficked and unaccompanied children has been clarified. The chapter should be read in full.
Children Visiting Psychiatric Wards and Special Hospitals This chapter has been updated in line with the revised Mental Health Act Code of Practice January 2015 chapter 11 (implemented April 2015), which gives guidance on the visiting of psychiatric patients by children.
Learning and Improvement Framework This chapter has been updated in line with Working Together to Safeguard Children 2015.

Surrey Early Help Multi-Agency Levels of Need This chapter has been updated as new linked documents replaced previous versions.
Contacts and Referrals This chapter has been updated as new links to the updated Multi Agency Referral Form have been added. A new link and references to the Escalation Policy have been added in Section 1.
Assessment This chapter has been updated in Section 3, Developing a Clear Analysis with a link to good practice guidance “Working with Foreign Authorities: Child Protection Cases and Care Orders Departmental advice for local authorities, social workers, service managers and children’s services lawyers” (July 2014).
Strategy Discussions and Section 47 Enquiries This chapter has been updated with a link to the SSCB leaflet for families in Sections 11, Seeing and Interviewing the Child and 13, Parental Involvement and Consent.
Initial Child Protection Conferences Links have been added in Section 6, Enabling Parental Participation and Section 12, Enabling Children's Participation to the SSCB information leaflets for children and young people and for families.
